Embracing spiritual strength during vision loss.

Samantha C Sinclair

In light of some personal struggles, I posted this to my public social media account today.

Sometimes when someone is dealing with vision loss, what is a big deal to them may not be a big deal to you. What is hard for them may not make any sense to you why it is hard for them. It may seem silly or even childish. Even though in my case, I know my disability is in the hands of God and he gave me peace about it years ago, losing vision in my left eye, which is my bad eye has messed with me more than I would like to admit. But sometimes you feel like you’re just supposed to be OK and you’re just thankful that God sees the true struggle that you have inside yourself. I’m sending prayers to all of my fellow friends out there who are struggling with your disability God has got this and we got each other. #DisabilityCommunity #MyDisabilityDoesNotHaveMe #EmotionalStruggle #Faith #Blessing #VisionLoss.

Most days, it really doesn’t bother me. Several years ago, God truly gave me peace concerning my disability, my visual impairment.

You are only impaired if you choose to be.

The above quote is something that I have said for a very long time, and believe wholeheartedly. We have two choices when we have a disability. We can sit down and give up, or we can get up and fight.

I have my disability, it doesn’t have me.

God will give you strength. However, it is all in your mindset. It’s your choice. You have to choose to stand strong. Now that is not to say there won’t be days that you will feel very weak and defeated. I’ve had a couple of those myself Lately. I know the truth I know the right things to say and the right things to be leave. But I’m only human. I’m so thankful that God knows my true feelings and thoughts and loves me through the struggles and the wrong thoughts.

If you ever feel that you are worthless, useless, or have suicidal thoughts seek help immediately. Those are not safe thoughts to have. But what I’m saying is you are going to have days where everything frustrates you. People may not understand why you start crying because you can’t find a bag of grapes. People may not understand why you just want to scream because Whatever it may be is a big deal to you, but they will never fully understand no matter how hard they try. You are not alone. God is always with you, and I’m lifting you up in my prayers. Sending hugs, my friend.
