Born May 29, 1917, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the second child of 9. Brookline MA was home to his parents, Rose and Joseph P Kennedy Senior and their children. As they grew up, Joseph and Rose encouraged their children to be competitive, and involved in family debates and discussions around the dinner table. These included political topics.

JFK suffered a lot of push back through out his life for standing his ground, but physical setbacks made life hard as well. Even then, JFK didn’t back down. Scarlet Fever before age three was followed by severe back pain. This was from the difference in length of his legs. Illness caused his leave Freshman year at Princeton. He enrolled at Harvard. JFK hurt his back while trying to join the school’s football team. He instead joined the varsity swimming team.

Although the two didn’t see eye to eye, a thesis written by JFK with the help of his dad became a success. Why England Slept sold 80 thousand copies in nine months, becoming a best seller in America and England.

A Thesis written by JFK with the help of his dad became a published success. Despite the two not seeing eye to eye, (Why England Slept) became a best seller in England and America. It sold 80 thousand copies in nine months. JFK donated the royalties to help war scarred Plymouth, from the British addition.

He enrolled in the London school Of Economics. His plans of attending Yale Law School were placed on hold, and as America drew closer to a highly likely entering of World War 2 he worked to strengthen his back. He joined the Navy, and requested to control a PT boat. Sadly, on August 2, 1943, JFK’s boat was rammed by an enemy boat. The boat broke in half, killing two of the crew. One of the survivors was burned so badly, JFK had to swim five hours with the Man’s life jacket strap in his teeth. They spent two days on a small island, before moving to a bigger one. Five days later they were rescued. JFK’s returned to sea, controlling another boat, was short lived. Malaria and severe back pain were the causes.

Upon returning to Ma., he became a speaker in high demand. He never allowed his hero status to define him. John Hersey chronicled his heroism for the New Yorker and Reader’s Digest.

In 1946, Kennedy was one of 11 candidates to represent the 11th district.

In 1953 JFK defeated Henry Cabot Lodge, joining the Senate at age 35. A Democrat, JFK stood his ground. In doing so, he angered a lot of people.

1960 was the year JFK’s presidential campaign was organized around the following themes.

Get America moving again.

To seek a new frontier.

His religious stance became just as important to the voters as other topics. Following four televised debates, JFK defeated Richard Nixon.

Tragically, his stay in the presidency was brutally ended. In Dallas Texas, on November 22, 1963 the life of JFK was taken. His assassin was also murdered. America watched on television from the moment of the tragic heart breaking murder happend, to his funeral.
