Importance of knowing your history.

Her fascination began at age nine in Girl Scouts.

In fourth grade Annita Dial was a Girl Scout. Her leader had an interest in Genealogy, and the fourth grader was intrigued.

She grew up, got married and became a mother. In her busy life on and off again, she continued to pursue her dream with Genealogy. When her son was in fourth grade, he had to do some homework pertaining to this subject. She found herself even more intrigued and could not stop. This began her journey to be a genealogist.

Dial now works as a genealogist in Columbia, Kentucky with the Genealogy Research Center. She also has taught her children and grandchildren, the importance of learning your history. She has her grandchildren involved in activities pertaining to this. She reminds everyone that it is important to start learning as young as possible, and continue learning about your history.

Her job is to help people who come in the center search genealogical documents. Reasons for researching could be for family or personal reasons, or there are lots of other reasons you might visit the center. Dial also is a member of DAR, daughters of the American Revolution.

Dial shares a lot of ladies join this organization.

Currently Dial shares they are in the process of starting up the SAR, sons of the American revolution. Stay tuned for further information on this coming later this year.

What would be a reason you could join the DAR or SAR?

If you do your genealogy homework and discover you had an ancestor involved in the American revolution, this is for you. They did not have to directly fight in the revolution. Maybe your ancestor donated food, allegiance to colonies or other reasons.

The Genealogy center does multiple projects, events, lots of documents, and so much more.

At the Center you will find Sir Name Binder, Family File Folders, some by communities. You can find books on Schools, Churches, Counties, as well as different states. In the Research Center you will also see the Ernestine Bennett catalogues. Dial says these resources make for a much easier process to help those who visit the Center complete their research. Contact the genealogy Research Center today to get started on your own journey. You never know what you just might learn. In doing her own research, Dial learned there were four passengers on the Mayflower she is a descendant of. John Howland fell overboard on the journey to America. He was rescued and survived. Sarah Palin, both United States presidents last named Bush, Baldwin Brother’s are descendants of Howland.

In the Center you will also locate the Janice Holt Giles books.

This passed Saturday, Dial held an event at the Columbia city cemetery to help others learn how to properly clean grave markers. If you would like to learn more information, reach out to Annita Dial at the genealogy Research Center in Columbia, Kentucky. 2703801024
