May 8, 2024 is a day so many will remember for years to come. One couple told family members they will never forget that sound. They rode out the Clumbia tornado in a closet. Thankfully they survived, but their home, barn, and land sustained serious damage. This couple is my great Aunt and Uncle. On a personal note, I’m thankful to God they are alive.

The EF 3 tornado touched down along the Duck River East of Clumbia TN. This occurred local time at 5:37 to 6:07pm. Multiple structures, trees, and a transformer power truss collapsed. Tragically there was one death, and a dozen injuries. Multiple homes received substantial damage, with some having portions of their roof removed. It reached its max around Black Burn Road. One house was destroyed with only an interior room left standing. A manufactured home was swept away. The tornado continued causing damage as it crossed I65 near mile marker 47. More homes and tress were damaged before the tornado lifted in a forest East of Moses Road in far Western Marshall County.

It is important to note there were other tornados, damage, and injuries on this tornado out break day. Please visit Nashville NWS website for a full list of places impacted, EF scale ratings, and more.

Prayers are with all impacted.
