Kim Bentley was just ten years old when her mother vanished. She has never stopped searching.
August 3, 1978 around ten pm was the last time anyone saw or heard from Sandra Flynn Fisher. She had gone to the Russell County Kentucky fair for a night out with friends. According to information given to WLEX 11 years ago, Fisher’s car was found parked near the fair grounds. Her purse and ID were inside.
Authorities suspected someone from out of town might have information. However, Fisher’s daughter believes otherwise.
She told WLEX she over heard a conversation which leads her to believe it was someone close to home. When she over heard the conversation about, “The girl missing from Russell County,” she spoke up stating this was her mother. The conversation stopped instantly.
Sandra Flynn Fisher was only 31 years at the time of her disappearance. At first family members suspected she might have taken off with the carnival. This had taken place a couple times before. However Fisher always returned within a couple weeks. This time however, weeks turned to years.
Her daughter has to get away now and then, according to a statement she shared with WLEX.
Eric Wolford, the detective on the investigation of this decades old case, was at the fair that night. A Russell County Native himself, he grew up with Fisher’s daughter. Wolford wants the case solved as well. However, he doesn’t have much to work with.
He says if anyone is with holding information they don’t think crucial, it could be. Also, at this point they are willing to hear from anyone.
“We do know that she went to the Russell County Fair,” says Wolford, “When her friend came to meet her at the car at a designated time, she just didn’t show up.”
