Wow! There is so much I could say about this book. But first, let me offer you a cup of coffee or tea, and recommend a box of tissues. In writing this fictional story, with characters I had became attached to long before, the tears easily fell. Now, it’s not all sadness. God’s grace and mercy clearly shines through.
If you find yourself reading stories involving family and children, keep reading. If you enjoy stories about faith and redemption, here you go.
Nancy and her husband Garrett are doing well in their marriage, and both of their disabled daughters are thriving. When their close friends are involved in a fatal car crash, they jump to help. Sue’s husband Buddy is killed, and it hasn’t been so many years after losing her adult daughter. Sue and her adopted daughter Bristi survive, but with injuries leaving them needing care. As Nancy and Garrett move them into their home, Nancy starts having severe headaches. Tragically those headaches are coming from a brain tumor. The Primmers discover they are expecting their third daughter. They lost a three year old son several years ago in a drowning accident. The doctor advises Garrett and Nancy to have an abortion so they can get on with Nancy’s treatments. The couples refuses, and requests a new doctor. Thankfully, he agrees to continue their baby’s life. Nancy and the baby survive, though it is hard. Nancy is able to return to work, but sadly the cancer returns. Sadly, this time following a touchy brain surgery she wakes up blind. Her husband learns he too has cancer on the day of Nancy’s final cancer treatment. Will he live?
Limuel and Debbra are still heart broken over losing their unborn son. They are thankful unto God to have two healthy toddlers. Tragically as they prepare to welcome a new baby, one of their precious twin girls is diagnosed with cancer. The brain tumor is removed, but the Leukemia continues it’s wrath. How will the family survive at the loss of two more children? Their daughter goes home to Heaven, and not long before their daughter is still born. Several years later, they face another loss of a child. Then, can their only surviving daughter survive the loss of her mother in the line of duty?
I told you this was a deep book. See why you need tissues? I needed them in the writing, editing, and reading after it was released.
But the beauty in all this? God is faithful, and never leaves HIS children.
Also, see faith and love through the eyes of children. How does Nancy’s kids help her through cancer, and the loss of her sight? How does the Primmer’s children shine God’s light in the darkness of grief?
